Here's a mind map (done in MindNode Pro) of most of my online activities, and how they're connected. The EDU 6451 presence consists of this blog, a Twitter feed, and a wiki. I've had a lot of ideas about how to interconnect our various online tools as we've engaged the materials.
This week we explored Facebook as an educational resource. I don't imagine using the network extensively as an online education tool. What I can imagine is frequent posts with links to other activities and resources online.
Facebook can be central to online activities, keeping traffic and interest flowing, since it is such a broad-reaching network, but the limitations of the internal applications limit their effectiveness. Facebook's internal Slideshare application was so slow as to be almost useless, but a wall post could easily include a link to recommend one of Slideshare's presentations right a at Slidshare.net. For example:
"Here's a link to an informative slide presentation on slide presentations:
http://www.slideshare.net/brhughes/four-steps-for-better-powerpoint-presentations
Let me know what you think."
