Macintosh Screen Capture Tutorial



Macintosh computers allow a variety of screen capture options.

Screenshots using Keyboard Shortcuts.

Shift + Command + 3 (⇧⌘3) captures the entire screen in its current form as a Portable Network Graphics image and labels the file with date and time.

Shift + Command + 4 (⇧⌘4) allows the user to draw a selection box and capture the contents of the box. Here's a video of the feature in action:

Screenshots using Preview.
The Mac OS includes a program called Preview which allows both of the above styles of capture, and allows capture of individual windows as well. These features are accessed in the program's File pulldown menu.
